I bought a home weather station from Modern Outpost and am extremely satisfied. The website was well organized with plenty of information. And the price was right. I still visit the site regularly because they always seem to have unique items (PETT system).

I purchaed a Samlex 300 Watt Pure Sine Inverter from Modern Outpost to use on a camping trip last summer which I connected to a 240 Ah deep cycle battery. The unit was backordered at the time, but Modern Outpost managed to get there hands on one and sent it to me in time for my trip! I have ordered a few things from ModernOutpost in the past, mainly solar-hybrid chargers and always found that they had the best selection on the Web. I spend long periods canoeing/hiking in the bush and always need power for my gadgets and MO has become my go to place for power. The only other place that has cool power gadgets seems to be in China and getting those shipping to North America is difficult. After having several batteries and solar chargers I wanted something that could provide emergency power in a pinch, especially when there was no sun or wind. My searches brought me to a Chinese website that had a dynamo charger with a cigarette lighter end on it. The shipping was expensive and the website was dodget at best. So for fun, I contacted MO and asked if they had something similar after not finding it on their site. They didn't have it listed on their site but they contacted me within hours and told me they were getting in a new product called Freecharge 12V and it was exactly what I was looking for. I told them to give me a price and ship me one right away and that they did. Very friendly from beginning to end, the only thing they asked was to give my opinion of the device as they were considering listing it on their site soon. I received it, tested it all over my home stomping grounds of Northern Ontario and having coupled it with a cigarette lighter-USB plug it easily charged pretty much everything I owned. It does take some cranking to get power to the devices, but even a couple minutes was long enough to make a call on a cell phone or use my GPS for a quick fix and location. I always pack it now, highly recommend it, because it is power, for anywhere, anytime when nothing else works. Thanks Modern... more
I was very pleased with my experience at Modern Outpost. I ordered a Primus EtaPower MF stove. The price was excellent and it shipped out quickly. Unfortunately the stove was quite a bit larger than what I needed so I had to return it. The return went quickly and easily as well. I will definitely use Modern Outpost again.

I purchased a solar panel from Modern Outpost after finding about about the company on the internet. Communication and service was excellent and the product served me well by recharging batteries for a satellite phone, Ipods, and headlamps on a Himalayan expedition. All in all I recived great service and would shop here again.

I am a bargain hunter when it comes to the internet, i'll spend days and days researching prices and customer reviews then narrow it down to store that ship to canada. I was shocked to find that Modern Outpost not only had the best prices and shipped to canada but it was located in canada! I was initially looking for means to power my camcorder on long expeditions. I soon found that Modern Outpost had even more to offer! The wireless La Crosse thermometers I purchased from you are working perfectly and are far superior to the Oregon Scientific ones. I had nothing but problems with the transmitting and receiving signals of those products.

I purchased the Ansmann universal battery charger because I needed it for cell phone and digital camera batteries. It works perfectly and is small enough so that I can carry it in my camera bag. In addition, Modern Outpost shipped the product right away and it arrived when they said it would.
I ordered a replacement transmitter for our weather station - Modern Outpost was the only dealer I could find in Canada who had them in stock. Prices were reasonable and delivery prompt. I have no complaints! :)

Looking for a decent price on the Pocket Chainsaw, I found Modern Outpost(MO) via a search. Always leery of stores I'm not familiar with, I was not entirely comfortable ordering from MO. I'm afraid that the solar recharger I purchased in 2007 was a complete waste of money. It never worked - I got zero benefit from having it....do you want it back?
I received my solar energy and camping supply items exactly as they were advertised and in perfect packaging. The communications were easy and prompt.
Graham, We have used your privacy pop-up tent for two years now as our shower enclosure, particularly when we dry camp, using solar showers for the water. When we first set it up (in about 2 minutes) and put in the rubber mat for the floor, our camping family and friends laughed with great hilarity. Until we actually used it – and then we found that we had to book our shower times well in advance since they ALL then wanted to use it. I have had to invent a shower holder that fits on the rear ladder of our trailer to hold the shower bag above the enclosure. Works like a charm!! Putting it away is just as fast – throw the mat in the truck, fold it up and stow it in about 3 minutes. The extra time is to remember how it goes in the bag!! At our age, it is SO nice to have a clean private shower daily when camping. The tent is a wonderful addition to our gear. I believe you have had several sales of the tent as a result of our early uses, and I’m sure you’ll have more, since campers in every campground are always asking where we got it and how we use it!! I ordered a weather station from Modern Outpost on Tuesday morning at around 9am Eastern time and via the Web. The original e-mail confirmation said that it could take 24 hours to process the order and the shipping method indicated 3-5 days for delivery. Imagine my shock when I recieved the package on Thursday afternoon - only about 55 hours after placing the order. Now I just need this snow storm to end so I can set about installing it. I spent five months in Nepal last fall - four months volunteering in a remote rural village, and one month trekking. My volunteer project was in a primitive area with no electricty, and I used the Outpost Power 4 combined with the SunLinq 12 to successfully recharge AA and AAA batteries, my Li-ion dSLR battery, and my electric hair trimmer. I was there in the rainy season, but even in cloudy conditions the panel was able to charge my batteries (adequate to my needs). While trekking I also powered a portable CD-burner to back up my digital files. The support I received before my trip was amazing and the products worked wonderfully I am now looking at purchasing a larger system to supply my household appliances with "clean" energy. I was searching all over the internet for an underwater case for my 2 cameras. I probably spent a good 2 hrs searching and I only came across 3 places in Canada that sold what I wanted. 1 place was charging $45 shipping and another place had the item but more expensive than what MO was charging. I'm from east Canada (toronto area) and I was leaving down south in a few days so I had to get it ASAP and was a bit worried it wasn't going to make it in time since they are located out West. I got my item in 2 days with a shipping cost of $10!!! Other places were charging ridiculous shipping prices. Hello, I purchased a solar panel for my trip to Burning Man this year and was amazed by the lengths that Modern Outpost went to get it to me. It was a last minute purchase and we arranged to send it on the ferry so I could pick it up in Horseshoe bay before I left. No other store has provided me with so much dedicated customer service -- Thank you very much Graham. Oh, and the PowerFilm solar panel worked very well in the desert environment. re: sierra zip stove it's awesome! works as well as any gas stove i've ever had/tried...for real. we took the sierra zip stove camping (party of 3) near uculet and used it almost exclusively for the whole trip (about 4 days). the stove lights in no time & boiled enough water for 3 cups of coffee in 3-4min :) a lot of people at the campground asked us about the stove..i think they were pretty impressed that a wood burner gave so much heat. it's a near perfect environmentally-friendly alternative in that regard...you don't have to give up much vs a simple gas burner if anything. is there a danger that we (campers with zip stoves) could use up all the pre-humus and damage the forest? otherwise this should be standard scout issue equipment. thanks sierra and thanks modern outpost for shipping this to us so quickly! your service was great. peas. jeff & linda ps - when not in camping...we use the zip stove to make smores in our front... more
Thanks for the camping shower. An easy, environmentally friendly way to heat up water using the sun. I use it to warm water for bathing my horse since we have no hot water at the barn. Easier and safer than using a kettle. Thanks Again!

We wish we'd known about the Airplus Ecofan many years ago. Our main source of heat is our wood stove, and when the power goes out, we often worried about the heat circulating. Now, the warm air moves around nicely without needing electricity. We've recommend that those who utilize wood stoves get an Ecofan. They won't be sorry. We sure aren't.
